I'm going to have to agree w/ jonnyintern.. don't go out and blow a bunch of cash on upgrades now.. if you don't know what they are in the first place you're not going to know the difference other components make. Your stab is gold.. don't change anything .. .. if you want a different color.. like on your stem and bars.. just rattle can it.. the only thing i'd ever change from stock as a beginner would be grips and pedals.. those depend on personal preference.. more than anything. if someone on PB ever says upgrade to codes (or any other high end part).. w. no reason they're retarded. The XT brakes you have a plenty strong and reliable.. especially if you aren't over 200lbs.. codes are a 4 piston brake that'll stop you fast... but if you don't have the mass behind them.. they'll be too powerful. Until you ride at pro speeds. Upgrade stuff as it breaks.. b/c trust me.. it will..
to answer your ? on tires.. those are also a real personal preference .. do some research (not on PB) check the maxxis and kenda site.. see what they recommend for your type of dirt. If you're in width and tread pattern are usually specifically design for types of dirt etc.. people on PB will tell you just to get some stupid tire they really know nothing about.. if you want some less retarded answers.. go to mtbr.com to their downhill and FR forum.. you'll still encounter the "buy this because this is what i ride so it should be the best" mentality .. but you'll run into less of it than on PB.

was going to add to your thread about your new bike. but coudnt be arsed. if you dont know what half the things are those guys are suggesting, i wouldnt bother changing anything till it breaks. then ask your local bike shop. avoid xo stuff, its overpriced and only really good for race bikes and occasional use bikes. so just go out ride, get used to it and get it muddy.
